community impact partners
We wanted the Community Read to be more than just a fun time with an exciting book and author – we wanted there to be a positive impact on our community, so to do that, we are introducing Community Impact Partners. Our partners are organizations in Tiffin and Seneca County that work hard every day to improve the lives of the residents. Our Community Impact Partners correlate with the themes and topics in the book, so this year’s topics are growing up in the foster care system, homelessness, and the influence that cultivating a love of books as a child can have on the rest of our lives.
Northwest Ohio Treatment Foster Care
Northwest Ohio Treatment Foster Care is a collaboration between Sandusky, Seneca, Ottawa, and Wyandot counties’ Public Children Services Agencies (PCSAs). The program connects foster children with a higher level of need with foster families who are equipped to support children with complex needs in their homes.
Ohio currently has more than 1,800 foster children who live in group settings because there are not foster families willing or comfortable to take on the significant behavioral challenges and complex needs these foster children present. The program aims to significantly reduce that number.

The Gase Family Literacy Fund of TCF
The Gase Family Literacy Fund of the Tiffin Community Foundation is the Literacy Champion of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Seneca County. As Literacy Champion, they are tasked with covering all funds associated with the mailing of the books to preschoolers in the Tiffin community.
The Dolly Party Imagination Library was introduced to our community in 2018. The program mails one free book each month to registered children from birth until age 5. The early exposure to literature increases a child’s vocabulary and strengthens literacy. Numerous studies have shown that early exposure will help prepare a child for kindergarten and future studies.
The Gase Family Literacy Fund has proudly graduated over 1,000 children through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and currently has over 900 preschoolers enrolled.
If you would like more information, please reach out to the Tiffin Community Foundation at 31 S. Washington Street, Tiffin, OH.
Transformation Life Center
The Transformation Life Center (TLC) is a program overseen by the Seneca County Council on Homelessness that provides emergency housing for women and children, recognizing that they are disproportionately affected by homelessness.
More than just a shelter, TLC offers a pathway to stability by equipping residents with the tools they need to achieve self-sufficiency. Residents at TLC have access to life skills classes, budgeting workshops, and connections to vital community resources. By fostering personal growth and financial independence, they aim to break the cycle of homelessness for women and their families.
The Transformation Life Center is more than just a place to stay, it’s a 90-day residential program designed to help women and children move from crisis to stability.
Safe Housing:
TLC provides short-term emergency shelter in a secure and supportive environment, offering women and their children a place to rest, regroup, and rebuild.
Life Skills Development:
Throughout their stay, residents take part in life skills classes focused on budgeting, job readiness, parenting, communication, and other tools essential for independent living.
Supplemental Support:
To help relieve immediate stressors, TLC supplies residents with basic necessities including hygiene items, essential clothing, and supplemental food to support three meals a day for each family member.
Community Connections:
Our staff helps each resident connect with local resources such as healthcare providers, employment services, legal aid, childcare, and housing programs which builds a network of long-term support.
Personalized Services Management:
Residents work closely with our staff throughout their stay, receiving one-on-one guidance, emotional support, and a personalized plan to help them take confident steps toward lasting self-sufficiency.
