community impact partners

We wanted the Community Read to be more than just a fun time with an exciting book and author – we wanted there to be a positive impact on our community, so to do that, we are introducing Community Impact Partners. Our partners are organizations in Tiffin and Seneca County that work hard every day to improve the lives of the residents. Our Community Impact Partners correlate with the themes of the book, so this year’s themes are friendship, grief and loss (and the loneliness that can accompany both), and the bond between humans and animals. Our Community Impact Partners are The Humane Society of Seneca County and RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) of Seneca, Sandusky, and Huron Counties.

Humane Society of Seneca County

The Humane Society of Seneca County is a non-profit organization that offer the community a variety of services including adoptions and more! They are an Open-Door Facility for all Seneca County residents, meaning they do not turn away any animal in need of their services if they are at risk of being abused or abandoned. The Humane Society of Seneca County is the only shelter in Seneca County that accepts cats and kittens!

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

The Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. They use the skills and talents learned over the years, and also develop new ones, while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within our communities.

RSVP volunteers choose how, where and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. Volunteers receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where they will serve and supplemental insurance while on duty. RSVP volunteers do not receive monetary incentives, but sponsoring organizations may reimburse them for some costs incurred during service.

Join the RSVP of Seneca, Wyandot, and Huron Counties and the Library on Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. for a panel discussion featuring RSVP volunteers who will share stories and experiences, and ways you can get involved!
