Wireless Access Policy
  

Wireless Internet access is provided free of charge by the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library for patrons who have the required hardware and software needed for this service.  Wireless Internet access users must agree to the following conditions: 

 

  •    Comply with the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library Acceptable Use Policy for Computerized Technology, Electronic Library Services, OPLIN and Internet  Resources (reproduced below).
  •    The laptop owner is responsible for setting up their equipment to access the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library Wireless network.  Library staff is not permitted to handle your laptop or peripheral equipment.
  •    The Library will not assume responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the library’s wireless service.
  •    Library staff is not allowed to configure patrons’ laptops, nor can they provide assistance in getting connected to the wireless network.
  •    Virus and security protection is the responsibility of the patron.
  •    The library does not guarantee that any particular web site or electronic transaction will work.
  •    The library’s Wireless network is subject to periodic maintenance and unforeseen downtime.
  •    Gambling, pornography and Internet telephony are not permitted on the library’s Wireless network.
  •    Patrons disturbing others will be asked to leave the library.
  •    If you do not agree to the above terms, please disable your wireless connection or turn off your computer.


Acceptable use policy for Computerized Technology, Electronic Library Services, OPLIN and Internet Resources

It is the policy of Tiffin-Seneca Public Library to develop, as limited resources permit, collections, programs and services that make use of computerized technology and the Internet for educational and informational purposes in an environment that is secure and conducive to public use and in a manner that complies with Federal, State and Local law.

 

  • Tiffin-Seneca Public Library complies with Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.31 “Disseminating Matter Harmful to Juveniles,” 2907.311 “Displaying Matter Harmful to Juveniles” and other provisions of the ORC.
  • Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is a participant in The Ohio Public Information Network and complies with OPLIN policy on Public Use of OPLIN (http://tinyurl.com/avfao) and OPLIN policy to control access to obscene and illegal materials as defined in the Ohio Revised Code.
  • Violations of the Ohio Revised Code and OPLIN Policy are not permitted in Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.
  • Illegal activity is prohibited in Tiffin-Seneca Public Library and on Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s networks, equipment and software.
  • Employees are authorized to bring to an individual’s attention any act which will detract from the decorum of the library or will create a hostile workplace in violation of state and federal civil rights laws.
  • In cases in which it is deemed necessary to enforce laws, police will be called for assistance.
  • Tiffin-Seneca Public Library cooperates with police in the enforcement of laws, statues and ordinances.
