Computer Class Registration is underway!
Tiffin-Seneca Public Library has announced the schedule for adult computer classes in March 2012. Eight classes will be offered. Space is limited so registration is necessary. Registration is underway now. The Library charges $1 per class to cover copy costs, which must be paid by the time of the class.
“All About Digital Photos” will be Thursday, March 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and is for students that are familiar with using the Internet, email, and attachments. Students will learn how to save, transfer, organize, and share digital photos. Students can expect to sit through a demo that reviews these topics and then ask questions in a brief hands-on workshop (bringing personal digital cameras or mobile devices and connection cables is optional).
“Basic Computing” will be on Tuesday, March 6 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and is designed for users who are just learning to use a computer. Students will learn the basic parts of the computer and the desktop. Knowledge of how to use the mouse is required.
“Intro to Excel” will be Thursday, March 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and is for students that are familiar with how to use a mouse and the keyboard. Students will learn the basics of the spreadsheet program Excel. Students will learn how to set up an address book and create a simple checkbook. “Beginning Word” will be Tuesday, March 13 from 10:00 to 11:30 am and knowledge of how to use the mouse and the keyboard is helpful. Learn the basics of word processing using Microsoft Word 2007. Students will learn how to create and save documents, and how to use basic Word functions.
“Create a Facebook Account” will be Wednesday, March 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and is for students that have an accessible e-mail account, know their password and be able to navigate the Internet. Students will learn how to open an account, how to upload pictures, enter information and learn about privacy settings.
“Beginning Internet” will be Tuesday, March 20 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and is for participants who are just learning the Internet. Students will learn the buttons and pull-down menus of Microsoft Internet Explorer, as well as using their newly learned skills to navigate on Tiffin-Seneca Public Library's links and resources. Students must be familiar with how to use a mouse and the keyboard.
“Intermediate Word” will be Wednesday, March 28 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Students will review the fundamentals of Word as well as learn about templates, formatting, and working with graphics and tables in a Word document. It is important that students have a basic knowledge of Word before taking this intermediate course.
“Intermediate Excel” will be Thursday, March 29 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and it is important that students have a basic knowledge of Excel before taking this intermediate course. Students in the Intermediate Excel class will review the fundamentals of Excel, work with formulas, and become familiar with sorting and organizing data. The instructor will also discuss tips for formatting spreadsheets so they are easier to create and easier to read. Finally students will be taught how to make professional looking charts and graphs.
